    High Power Circuits

    In the High current category are Cookers, Electric showers and Immersion heaters. Within domestic premises, there may be a number of high wattage appliances, the most common being an electric cooker, immersion heater and electric shower. Each of these appliances should be connected to the consumer unit using a dedicated fuse/trip and cable run. The installation instructions for the appliance should detail the wattage of the appliance (which will also normally be shown somewhere on the appliance), the amperage of the fuse/trip and the size of cable required. Any switches on these circuits must also be of a suitable current rating.

    Cookers

    Fan assisted ovens can be run off the Ring mains in new build homes, they will be connected via a 13A plug top to a socket on the Ring main.

    For larger cookers and hobs please take note of the Rating plate and calculate the fuse rating and cable size from that, however it is fair to say that the cable size will be 10mm or 16mm twin and earth and the fuse rating will be 25amp or 32amp.

    Electric Showers

    For Electric showers, please take note of the Rating plate and calculate the fuse rating and cable size from that, however it is fair to say that the cable size will be 10mm or 16mm twin and earth and the fuse rating will be 25amp or 32amp.

    Immersion Heaters

    For Immersion heaters, please take note of the Rating plate and calculate the fuse rating and cable size from that, however it is fair to say that the cable size will be 10mm or 16mm twin and earth and the fuse rating will be 25amp or 32amp.
